Javapolis 2007 is gestart

Deze week vindt in Antwerpen weer het grootste Java congres van Europa plaats. Op de vraag of Java nog groeiende is ben je hier al snel uit. Alles is uitverkocht en 3000 mensen bezoeken de ruim 60 presentaties. Het Metropolis is een schitterende lokatie voor zo iets groots met alle faciliteiten die je verwacht.

“De Website is dood!” (zie eerdere post) uw doelgroep en gebruikers zijn op het internet, maar niet op uw website! Het externaliseren van uw content en webfunctionaliteit middels het beschikbaar stellen van open API’s en widgets is een stap in hun richting. Maar u blijft hier moeite mee hebben – u heeft het idee dat u meer grip hebt op de gebruiker wanneer die op uw corporate website komt en blijft.

Adobe Flex @ Wowww (Openwater Sessie)

Vandaag is het dan zover. Waldo Smeets van Adobe, een part-time evangelist, gaat ons laten zien hoe wij met de produkten van Adobe RIA oplossingen kunnen maken die weboplossingen van nu ver achter zich zal laten. Eerst even een drankje en een lopend buffet voordat we echt gaan beginnen. Er zijn veel mensen die zich hebben ingeschreven om eens kennis te maken met Waldo en Flex uiteraard.

Building applications with Adobe LiveCycle

Last Thursday I was at the post-event training for Adobe Max. I followed a class on LiveCycle. According to Adobe LiveCycle is:"an integrated J2EE server solution that blends electronic forms, process management, document security, and document generation". We used the LiveCycle Workbench to design a process. The workbench is an eclipse based tool. The processes are designed in a graphical manner by dragging and dropping services in a process diagram. These services can be from optional Adobe components or services that are custom built.

Day one at Adobe Max 2007 Barcelona

The conference seamed to start very wrong for me. I arrived Sunday afternoon in Barcelona and decided to check in right then to avoid the rush on Monday. I quickly found the the conference center (CCIB), went to the registration desk and identified myself. At such a moment it's always a bad sign when the person at the other side of the desk asks for your name multiple times when looking up your stuff. After having given my name three times still no pass was found. She asked if perhaps I was a speaker. Well no, not yet anyway :-).

Adobe MAX: Hands on deployment (air/html/flex)

After having a nice lunch with plenty to get... It was time for my first hands on session with flex and air. This session was focussed on the deployment of a html/flx etc.. application to air. This will make your application available on the desktop. First we started with a html web application. We loaded it with a ton of scripting and some air libraries and presto, we were able to drag and drop images from the desktop to the webbrowser. Very cool stuff. This took us about 1 hour to do including the talking and explaining. Next we did the same with flex..

Day 3. Hands on Adobe creative suite

Onward to the first session. Well this was not what I had intended to see (some adobe woman sent me to the wrong classroom), but it was worth it to see anyhow. I have learned the greater points in CS3 photoshop, bridge, Illustrator and some other cool applications. As a developer I think you should have some understanding and skill in the applications. Well I saw them here. Making moving text, animate movies and images.
